How time has flown by! School is getting ready to start again for many of you and for me but there are lots of summer time fun around to enjoy. Several shows, parades, and of course Nationals coming up. Always remember you can take your small equine to a group home and enjoy the faces of those who are not lucky enough to live out where there are horses and ponies and they will delight in the gift you share with them.
I do want to clear some a thing up that seems to be a miss conception among many people. The ASPC/AMHR youth program is not just for the youth showing at the Congress and Nationals. There are several programs available for the youth that never attends a show or are only able to attend the local level shows. Our registry funds along with many donations from individuals things from scholarships to companion awards. There are highpoint awards at the local shows that the shows must apply for to awards the youth must send in for based on all star points at the end of the year. The youth foundation is separate from the ASPC/AMHR youth program and I am not against it but I do wish people would get the facts straight that our programs are not just for youth at Nationals and Congress. Please check out the activities in the youth packect.
Keep in mind the next youth deadline is December for youth awards.

American Youth Horse Council Encourages Participation in eXtension HorseQuest Survey
Connecting kids through horses—an American Youth Horse Council objective—includes
a mandate to help kids and their leaders have access to current, accurate information
about horses. AYHC is pleased to support the eXtension HorseQuest group in their plans
to develop online learning opportunities (games and activities) to supplement their
current horse content for youth.

Materials are only as good as they are usable, though, and so before eXtension
HorseQuest goes any further, they want to gather some information about kids’
internet learning styles. They’ve created an anonymous survey for youth
ages 11 and up, asking how they currently use the internet to learn about
horses, and how they would like to use it in the future for this purpose.
eXtension HorseQuest has two requests:

1. If you are a youth 11 years of age or older, please help by completing
the survey—it should take no longer than 5-10 minutes. Pass the survey link
along to friends in the horse world.

2. Everyone: Please forward the survey link below to youth and youth
group leaders, and ask them to encourage their club or organization members
to complete it by April 15, 2011.

To access the survey,
please visit http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HorseXplorationProject.

The American Youth Horse Council supports this survey project and encourages
everyone to participate, so the new teaching materials can reach as many kids
in the horse world as possible.

Wow time does FLY!

Here it is Spring is upon us and in several areas shows are starting to spring up so Good Luck to all in the show ring! BUT you never have to go into a show ring to be a winner. The youth Companion Program has a lot to offer to the person going to parades, nursing homes etc. Just having fun with equine! The point system has been revamped so that you may earn the awards quicker so do not hesitate to send that info in thinking I have been trying we WANT you to all receive awards.

The youth High point program is off to a great start again this year. Loads of shows are applying. Well you may have noticed the pictures of the offerings are not on the website. WELL let me tell you a story. I was getting the new pics and going to have it all updated and well just let us say I have the pictures and they are not the best and I can not get them from my camera to the computer so I am going to have to figure out how to get a hard copy from my camera to Cindy to get put up on the website but in the mean time if you are not sure what is offered for 2011 call Cindy at the registry office and she can help you out. My favorite is the level one sweat pants, or the level two hooded sweatshirt and of course the level three throw, oh guess I must be cold this morning as I write this snuggle in but SPRING IS ON THE WAY!!!!

Keep in mind the June one deadline for t shirt designs, scholarships and the Langfeld and Barrett awards.

Hope all has a great Spring break (some of us do not get them) and look forward to speaking to you all someplace around this summer. Hey I hae mastered email so you all can email me anytime sandygrabow@yahoo.com (that is until yahoo changes the format again and I have to learn something new).
