I became acquainted with miniature horses when my aunt called in the fall of 2001 and told me she had purchased three miniature horses.  The next week, my mom and I went to see the horses and within a few months we started training the horses.  The horses were well tempered and learned very fast.  In the wpring of 2005, the two-year old mare and gelding were trained and my aunt, cousin, and I entered our first AMHR Show.  We did quite well in the showring that year and even better in 2006.  We were honored with numerous All Star Top Ten places as well as several National Top Ten places that year.
I enjoy showing the horses in all around performance classes.  My favorite classes are jumper, hunter, halter obstacle, driving obstacle and versatility.  In addition to showing the horses with AMHR, I also enjoy taking them to parties, our church's Fall Festival, parades and sharing them with the residents at nursing homes.
The spring night that my aunt's first filly was born, I happened to be visiting with her and it was exhilerating to experience this new life.  I helped imprint her at birth and have helped train her and now have the pleasure of exhibiting the mare in AMHR shows.  Because of the relationship that we have built over the four years since her birth, she is a very unique and will horse partner.
My aunt bred one of her mares to her show stallion; we were hoping for a solid silver dapple filly.  My aunt told me that this foal would be my very own.  The morning my aunt's mare went into labor was a joyous morning.  We were all excited that the moment had finally arrived.  But our joys turned to sorrw as our worst fears were realized.  The baby was malpositioned and we lost both the mare and the foal that was in fact a beautiful solid silver dapple filly.  Since I lost my filly, I feel that I am the best person to raise and train this colt and I would be honored for this colt to be placed in my care.
When I win Bayou, I have made arrangements to keep him at my aunt's farm so he can be around other horses.  With the help of my cousin who is a professional equine trainer and my aunt who is an all around amateur, we will train him to one day be a show horse.  One day, I hope to return with Bayou to AMHR Nationals.
